We love to sing about the heart. But what about heart attacks and irregular heartbeats? It's no fun to have a heart episode, but one staff members recently survived one and came up with this list. Our heart attack list of "heart failure" related songs in pop & rock. Live strong and stay healthy with these tunes:
- Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler, a seminal #1 80s hit. She also sang It's a Heartache... which also fits here.
- Heartbeat, It's a Love Beat by the DeFranco Family. A big early 70s hit! The hair, the outfits, the dance groove... the sets! ahh... we miss the 70s.
- Open Your Heart by Madonna. She never fails us. Like a surgeon.
- I Can Feel your Heartbeat - The Partridge Family. They had a lot of heart back in the day.
- Harden my Heart by Quarterflash. That burger will harden those arteries.
- Owner of a Lonely Heart by Yes
- Don't Go Breaking My Heart by Elton John and Kiki Dee
- Heart of Glass by Blondie. I'd think that would be easy to break.
- Heart of Stone by the Rolling Stones. Ah, yes... harder to break.
- Heart Attack by Demi Lovato
- Heart and Soul by T'Pau ... a great 80s one-hit-wonder. Or was it 2?
- Heart Attack by One Direction, the boyband that spawned Harry Styles
-Heartless by Heart. Anne and Nancy Wilson, the namesake band gets its shot on the list.
- Closer to the Heart by Rush
- When the Heart Rules the Mind by supergroup GTR, featurings Steve Howe from Asia and Yes.
- Stop Draggin' My Heart Around by Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks
- Heart Full of Soul by the Yardbirds. And full of cholesterol. Eat right, people!
- Two of Hearts by Stacey Q, an old 1 hit wonder from 80 something.
- Bleeding Heart by Jimi Hendrix
- Heart and Soul by Huey Lewis & The News (no relation to T'Pau)
- Tell It To My Heart by Taylor Dayne
- Rock my Heart by Haddaway
- Bringin' on the Heartbreak by Def Leppard
- Physical by Oliva Newton John. Let's get physical... Worst song ever, but she knows what it takes to get the heart pumping and back to health.
Those are our heart attack songs for the week. Now, go out and exercise! Get physical and eat your oats, people. Listen to these heart-related songs on the treadmill, hiking trail or at the gym.
